Fasih Ullah SaleemSoftware Engineer
Software Engineer | Full-Stack & Embedded Systems
I build end-to-end solutions across the full technology stack, from React frontends and Python/FastAPI backends to microcontroller firmware and cloud-connected IoT devices. Experienced in web development, REST APIs, databases, automation and hardware-software integration, backed by an Electrical Engineering degree (CGPA 3.79/4.00, PEC registered). A fast learner comfortable owning problems from concept through deployment in remote, international and cross-functional teams.
Open to remote and on-site roles worldwide · Based in Pakistan · Available for freelance, contract and hobby-project work
In the stack
Where a software engineer sits in a connected product.
The solid layers are the ones this role owns: firmware, network & iot, cloud & backend, web & app, applied ai. The faded ones are the rest of the system I also build, so nothing is designed in isolation.

Hire me for
Three things I can start on next week.
For a team, a startup, a research group or one person with an idea. Remote, worldwide, and I reply within a day.
- 01
Software that has to talk to hardware, a device, a sensor network, a machine, and a UI on top.
- 02
A web application with its API and database, built and deployed end to end by one engineer.
- 03
Automation and integration work across systems that were never designed to talk to each other.

Relevant projects
Software work, built and photographed on my own bench.
Each card opens the full story: what it does, how it was built and which layers of the stack I built myself.

Lead: firmware, PCB and integration
An end-to-end fleet telematics system built on a custom STM32F427 board. The device reads GPS position and MPU6050 motion data in real time, detects accidents and rollovers, and streams everything over a SIM800L GSM link to a web dashboard. A full power subsystem handles automatic switching between the vehicle battery and an onboard backup, with charging and protection circuitry, so the unit stays online even if main power is cut.

Research & prototyping
A local-first AI assistant built on open-source LLMs running entirely on-device. I explored Retrieval-Augmented Generation and vector-database concepts to ground the model in a private knowledge base, then experimented with prompt engineering, conversational interfaces, and agent workflows, evaluating model quality, hardware requirements, and deployment trade-offs along the way.

Embedded + cloud pipeline
An IoT data pipeline that takes readings from embedded sensor nodes and publishes them over MQTT to a cloud database, where they feed into monitoring applications. The project demonstrates the full telemetry loop: device acquisition, lightweight pub/sub transport, persistence, and live visualization.

Embedded control
A robotic vehicle controlled over Wi-Fi, pairing an STM32 for real-time motor and sensor control with an ESP32 handling wireless communication. It supports both a manual remote-drive mode and an autonomous navigation mode, showcasing tight coupling between a wireless link and an embedded control loop.

Questions
What people ask before hiring a software engineer.
What languages and frameworks do you work in?
Python (FastAPI, Django), C and C++ for embedded targets, JavaScript and TypeScript with React, SQL for PostgreSQL and SQL Server, MATLAB for analysis and Dart/Flutter for mobile. I pick per problem rather than per preference.
How is an embedded background useful to a software team?
It means I have debugged with an oscilloscope, not only a stack trace. Timing, memory, concurrency and failure modes are things I have met at register level, which makes backend and integration bugs a lot less mysterious.
Do you work remotely?
Open to remote and on-site roles worldwide. My current role and every website I have shipped were delivered remotely with international, cross-functional teams.
Can you take a project from idea to deployed product alone?
Yes, that is the shape of my projects: schematic to firmware to backend to dashboard for the fleet tracker; ingestion pipeline to database to monitoring app for the sensor platform; model deployment to RAG pipeline to chat UI for the local AI assistant.
Also hire me as
The same engineer, seen from other angles.
One person, nine job titles. Each page argues the case from that field's side, with the projects that prove it.
